| Buildings are not the only things said to carry supernatural activity. Volume 2 of Haunted Objects examines paintings, furniture, monuments, machinery and personal possessions whose reputations traveled with them or survived long after their owners.
The visual objects include the portrait of Bernardo de Galvez and the Anguished Man painting. Domestic objects enter through the Tallman family’s bunk beds and the Great Bed of Ware, while the jukebox at Earnestine & Hazel’s connects a public gathering place with reports attached to a specific machine. The Swansea Devil, Cleopatra’s Needle and James Dean’s Porsche Spyder complete the collection. Their stories range from local folklore and ancient history to celebrity tragedy and modern popular culture.
