| Antarctica’s extreme isolation can produce sensory deprivation, vivid hallucinations and deep unease, making it difficult to separate environmental stress from the stories people bring home. This episode approaches the continent through expedition history, research stations, abandoned sites and the legends that have gathered around them.
The journey visits Deception Island, McMurdo Station and Mount Erebus, then follows stories involving Sir Edmund Hillary and Sir Ernest Shackleton. Wordie House and Scott’s Hut preserve the material world of polar exploration, while the unidentified vessel known as Jenny enters through maritime legend.
