| Alaska’s immense distances and layered Indigenous, Russian and American histories give its supernatural stories an unusual range. Volume 2 moves between Anchorage landmarks, abandoned institutions, mining history, the Iditarod Trail and modern legends associated with the state’s remote interior.
The location-based stories include Wendy Williamson Auditorium and the Dimond Center in Anchorage, Eklutna spirit houses, the former Jesse Lee Home in Seward, Tonsina River Lodge, the Kennecott mines near McCarthy and Castle Hill in Sitka. Ghostly encounters on the Iditarod Trail lead into the Sabrewolf and the Alaska Triangle. Those closing subjects belong more closely to cryptid and unexplained-phenomena traditions than to conventional hauntings. The episode presents them as folklore while keeping the documented history of Alaska’s buildings and communities in view. |
