| North Dakota’s haunted places reflect the state’s military, educational, medical and civic history. This episode crosses prairies and cities to visit forts, theaters, libraries and institutions where local tradition has preserved stories of unexplained activity.
The route begins in Grand Forks at the University of North Dakota and Empire Arts Center. It continues to Fort Totten State Historic Site, Sage Hill Bed & Breakfast in Anamoose and Harvey Public Library. Near Mandan, the episode visits Fort Abraham Lincoln and the reconstructed Custer House before turning to the Liberty Memorial Building in Bismarck, San Haven near Dunseith and Fargo’s Trollwood Park. Some stops remain active public places, while others have been preserved, reconstructed or abandoned. The episode keeps those histories separate from later ghost reports, presenting a broad survey of haunted North Dakota and the communities that continue to tell these stories. |
