| Southampton’s medieval walls and centuries of maritime travel remain woven into a modern English port city. This episode explores theaters, hotels, pubs and preserved buildings where local history has accumulated reports of apparitions, footsteps and other unexplained activity.
The route begins at the Mayflower Theatre and Dolphin Hotel, then visits the Red Lion, Duke of Wellington, Talking Heads and Station pubs. Each brings a different strand of the city’s social and hospitality history into its supernatural traditions. The final locations reach deeper into Southampton’s built heritage: the Bargate, Tudor House and Garden, South Western House and the Medieval Merchant’s House. By comparing the known history of these properties with later witness accounts, the episode shows how ghost stories become part of a city’s living relationship with its oldest spaces. |
