| Wyoming’s ghost stories follow the routes of Indigenous communities, fur traders, cattle drivers, prisoners and Oregon Trail emigrants across one of the least populated states in the country. The episode connects those successive chapters of western history with reports preserved at prisons, churches, theaters, hotels and frontier sites.
Cheyenne provides three stops: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Historic Plains Hotel and the Atlas Theatre. In Rawlins, the Wyoming State Penitentiary holds stories connected to its former inmates and staff. The Historic Occidental Hotel in Buffalo and the Irma Hotel in Cody bring the state’s hospitality and cattle-town history into the journey. Fort Bridger State Historic Site and the Wyoming Territorial Prison in Laramie complete the route. Each location carries a different institutional or community memory, and the episode keeps those documented histories visible while presenting apparitions, unexplained sounds and other reports as witness accounts rather than settled fact. |
